We’re a small practice with a big plan; we want to improve your life through better architecture.

So we are a small, but innovative design led practice based at beautiful Wainui Beach on Gisborne’s East Coast. The dynamic coastal landscape inspired our name and inspires our architecture; a sustainable and sympathetic response to New Zealand’s unique South Pacific lifestyle.

Sustainability and passive design is a prime consideration for all our buildings; public or private. Working with the environment incorporating natural ventilation and shaded for the hot summer months, and in winter, deep sun penetration with a combination of thermal mass and effective insulation combine to create a stable, efficient and comfortable environment that sits elegantly within the environment.

We believe in a team approach to practice that encourages and values input from the client into the design process. As such, we are open to challenge and criticism in order to thoroughly test design decisions to ensure a high quality solution to the Client’s brief.

Architecture for us is a constant learning process where challenge is embraced. We are constantly involved in continuing professional development and up skilling with the belief that we must be open to new technologies, philosophies and systems to grow both as individuals and a practice.

Oh, and lastly; we most certainly have to capacity and skills for the bigger stuff, but we love the challenge of the smaller project with limited budget. We know that good design will add significant value and return to a tight budget.

So that’s the blurb. However in the end we believe the architectural process is basically the art of communication. It is our role to understand and develop your vision to effectively communicate that to builder so that, together, we deliver an outstanding project. That’s how we make your life better.
